Events Held Till Date
- A seminar was held on “Labour Laws Amendments” on 25/9/1982 at Hotel Oberoi.
- In the year 1988, a seminar was held by the Managing Committee on the subject of “Recent Amendments in Labour Laws” at Taj Inter-continental Hotel on 06/02/1988.
- It was a matter of pride when our LLPA, Mumbai completed 25 years of its existence and for the said purpose the Silver Jubilee function was held with a Seminar on a momentous subject of “Role of Judiciary in Labour Laws”. The said Silver Jubilee programme was held on 24/03/1991 at Ambassador Hotel and the Hon’ble Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice A.M. Ahmedi was kind enough to inaugurate the same. The other Hon’ble Judges of the Bombay High Court viz. Justice H.H. Kantharia, Justice B.N. Srikrishna, Justice Patankar, Justice A.A. Kazi, the Hon’ble President of the Industrial Court, Shri S.V. Naik and other members of the Industrial court and Labour Courts at Bombay and Thane attended the said function. One of the members of the Industrial Court, Shri K.M. Desai, who was appointed as Charity Commissioner for Maharashtra State was also kind enough to attend the said function. The then Minister of State for Labour and home, Shri Arun Mehta released the souvenir on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee. Eminent speakers namely, Mr. R.J. Kochar, Mr. M.S. Naik, mr. dada Samant, Mr. Mahesh Bhat, Mr. M.M. Verma and Mr. J.P. Cama spoke on the said topic. The seminar was chaired by Mr. Justice H.H. Kanthare.
- Seminar was held on 27th February, 1993 at the Taj Mahal Hotel on the following subjects:
- “Judicial Pronouncements on Disciplinary Proceedings in Industry
And - Review of the Functioning of the MRTU and PULP Act, 1971.”

- A lecture was organized on 25/03/1994 on the subject “Legal Framework of Industrial Adjudication, history and Perspective”. The speaker on this occasion was Senior Advocate, Mr. Shekhar Naphade.
- Advocate K.P.V. Menon delivered a very interesting lecture on the subject of “Adjudication of Dearness Allowance based on Consumer Price Index and other facilities”. The lecture was held on 02/02/1995 in the Bar room of the Association and was attended by not only the members of the bar but also members of the bench.
- Workshop was arranged on 28/06/1997 to discuss the “Maharashtra Industrial Relations Bill.”
- A limited overs match was played on 10/02/1997 at Dadajee Kondeo Stadium between Mumbai LLPA and Thane LLPA in which the Mumbai LLPA had won.
- On 11/03/2000, the Federation of LLPA alongwith LLPA, Mumbai and the CLR Foundation had arranged a National Seminar on “Need for Changes in Labour Laws for 21st century” at the Centaur Hotel, Juhu Beach, Mumbai.
- A lecture cum demonstration was held on 01/11/2000 on “Naturopathy” by the “NIRCO Group” in the bar room of the Association. A substantial number of members, judges of the Industrial and Labour Courts and also the staff of the Industrial and Labour Courts participated in the said lecture cum demonstration and took advantage of the same.
- The Managing Committee had arranged a workshop on 23/03/2001 on “Pros and Cons of the Judgement delivered by the Supreme Court in the cases of Kalyani Steel and Cipla”. The said workshop was attended by a large number of members. The Managing Committee had invited 5 senior members of the Association, namely, Shri Shekhar Naphade, Shri. J.P. Cama, Shri. M.M. Varma, Shri S.J. Deshmukh and Dr. R.S. Kulkarni, to speak on the occasion.
- Lecture series was organized by the Executive Committee in the year 2002 and the same was inaugurated by His Lordship, Mr. Justice S.K. Shah of the Bombay High Court.
- The first lecture was given by Shri Adhik Shirodkar, Senior Advocate on the topic “Cross Examination and Humor in Courts”.
- A team of experts in Yogasanas from Shree Ambika Yoga Kutir founded by the Late Shri Nikam Guruji delivered a lecture coupled with demonstrations on “Healthy and Peaceful Living with yoga”.
- A lecture on “Legality of the concept of implied repeal of the MRTU and PULP Act, 1971 and ramifications of the repeal of the said Act” was held on 31/06/2000, under the Chairmanship of Shri U.R. Patil, former President, Industrial Court, Maharashtra. The lecture was delivered by Shri P.M. Shah, Senior Counsel.
- The Federation of Labour Laws Practitioners Association alongwith LLPA, Mumbai. held a National seminar on “Retention and Attrition of Employment due to the changing scenario of Industry and the proposed New Industrial Policy of the Government of Maharashtra” on 10th March, 2007 at Hotel Leela Kempinski, Mumbai. All the Associations related to Labour Laws were invited.
- During the year 2008-2009, the Association organized a lecture series in association with the Dyes and Chemical Workers’ Union in memoriam of the late Shri G.R. Khanolkar. The entire expense of the lectures held as well as the food served to the members attending the same was borne by the Dyes and Chemical Workers’ Union. The following lectures were held;
- Senior Advocate, Shri M.M. Varma gave a lecture on the “Implications of Judicial Decisions on Contract Labour” on 19/12/2008;
- Professor Arun Jogdev gave a lecture on the subject of “Naturopathy – Cure without medicine” on 20/03/2009;
- Senior Advocate, Mr. Anand Patwardhan gave a lecture on “Practice, Procedure and Redressal of grievances of the Consumers under Consumer Protection Act” on 11th August, 2009.
- A bone density and obesity assessment test facility was organized in the bar room on 14th, 17th and 18th of September. The said facility was availed of by not only a large number of the members of the Association but even the Hon’ble Members of the Industrial and Labour Courts as well as the office staff of the Industrial and Labour Courts took benefit of the same.
